This (note: post-comic spoilers) makes me miss Inverloch something fierce. So /so/ pretty. Not that The Phoenix Requiem doesn't get a lot of love from me - I did end up ordering the Jonas statue. Almost typed "Varden statue." I wish!
Also: BWUH?! I don't understand how this could possibly have any semblance of a good plot. Then again, I think I might've said the same thing about Pirates.

Now Netflix is taunting me. The first disc of Elemental Gelade was sent out a couple of days ago and I never realized that it didn't arrive. Suddenly I get a notice that says it's been returned. Meaning it was most likely delivered to the wrong apartment. Well, I hope that person had fun watching my anime. At least they returned it. But now I have to order it again. I really hope that this doesn't become a trend. It does make me wonder who in my building ended up getting it, though. There are two Lion King themed routers (Simba and Mufasa) and one "Tardis" in my building.
Today feels like a Fafner day. The first two episodes have so much in them...
It's the little things )

Oh my gosh. The Phoenix Requiem is going to have a figure set made. The first one is Jonas. I WANT ONE!
I wish she'd go back and make these for Inverloch.

Dead Like Me reference in episode 1! Awwwww, Happy Time. I'll bet George...er...Millie...had a fun time sorting out that mess (and talking Delores down from her ledge). I miss Dead Like Me. I wish the movie hadn't been delayed.

EDIT: Magical realism. That's what this show works with.

Anesthesia is over. I meant to come home and study and clean, but I fell asleep and didn't wake up until 7:30. Oops. I overslept this morning as well, but fortunately got to the hospital with just enough time to deal with everything. Today was potluck day and there were tacos. Yum.
After my impromptu nap I decided to go back and relive the end of season 3 of Grey's while doing some online review for the NAVLE. Then I decided to play some Eden. That game is totally zen until it gets frustrating because you keep missing your jump and run out of time. It tells you how long you've spent playing a level when you finish, and I'm always like "What? I just spent a half hour on this? Where did the time go?!"
Doing some more thinking on my tagonists (both 'pro' and 'an'). Cut For Trinity Ramblings )

Anyways, I should probably sleep now that it's nearly 1am. Yup.

Cutest Marketing Ploy Ever
Okay, maybe not ever. But it's things like this (and hearing about what's already happening creatively with the beta run of LittleBigPlanet) that make me really want the game. The rave reviews it's been getting certainly have made me look forward to getting my hands on it.
In other news, today was frustrating on several levels. Three more days on this rotation. I note that 3 (er...2...really...I'm not watching the third...really...) of my shows are starting up tomorrow...and I probably won't be home for any of them. Ah well. Such is life.

I got Palette today. The songs are good and...there are no karaoke tracks? Okay. But the DVD with the PV is awesome...and the PV is frickin' adorable. It's fun watching him run up stairs and cover himself in paint paint things. Still, the lack of karaoke versions concerned me, so I checked what was on the regular edition of the CD. No karaoke versions still, but live versions of Natsu no Tsubasa and Troublemaker. I'm so tempted. Somebody tell me I'm not allowed to buy the regular edition too.
...heh. Heh. There are little "making of" scenes on the DVD too, mainly concerning him being forced to run up stairs over and over. I'm a tad concerned that they made him run up staircases in the middle of Japan's summer. But mainly I'm overwhelmed with the cuteness. Wow it's been so long since I've watched something of him being casual.
In other news, I sliced my hand on two separate occasions today. The box Palette came in tried to take off my pinky. I suppose it was my fault for trying to open it in the car without aid of a cutting device. The second time I'm not sure how I did it, but I'm pretty sure it involved a butter knife cutting something a butter knife really shouldn't have been cutting. Cooking with Kat is a dangerous experience.
...hearing Nao-kun pronounce "twelve" is almost too much. Cute overload. What is with his obsession with pronouncing things in English this time? Now he's explaining his dinner in English. He pronounces "tomato" in an American accent /far/ too well. Also - his signature changed. Or at least he signed it to his painting differently than he normally does.
...I want to go play in paint...

EDIT: KYAAAAAH! He should not be able to turn from child playing in paint to sexy eye glances that quickly.

So...I'm on anesthesia. And since Mondays they really only have dental cases and emergencies...we had no cases to work on. We were told to go "frolic" until 4pm, when the list of tomorrow's cases will be available.
I think the most exciting part of this is that I get to do my dishes now.

I got home somewhat early tonight and I only have 3 patients in the hospital to take care of tomorrow morning I got to go home at 8:30 tonight. So I grabbed some food (since the only thing I've had to eat today is sugary crap that was thrown onto the conference table over the course of the day) and decided to watch an episode of Get Backers. Finally got the DVDs.
Wow this show is nostalgic. I watched it when it first aired and again with the SHHJFC (and for some reason I can only remember the acronym...surgery really has taken over my brain). It's just so campy and wonderful. And Ban is so kakkoii. I so <3 his purple glasses. Though I don't know if I approve of ADV leaving "Jagan" untranslated. I'm so torn. I'm so weird about translations sometimes.
Anyways, time to sleep. Maybe I'll manage to watch more this weekend. I was tempted to skip right to the good stuff (anything with Mugenjou and Makubex), but I'm going to force myself to rewatch the series from the beginning. Afterall, it's been a number of years.
Right. Sleep, sleep.

Felt like I needed a 気分転換 and so went driving around for a little bit. Stopped in at a few stores, walked around the mall, bought some classics at Borders, and wound up at GameStop. I really wasn't looking to buy anything (well, one thing, but it's more an ongoing quest). But in flipping through the used PS2 games I noticed a nice, shiny tin that contained the collector's edition of FFXII for the low low price of $17.

Guy at Counter: Hey look, we did have a collector's edition left!
Other Guy: Which is why she's buying it, I'm guessing.
Me: I'll buy anything in a shiny tin!
Guy: Gears of War?
Me: That would be stupid, considering I don't have a 360.
Guy: We can fix that! It'll only cost you a few hundred dollars.
Me: Uh...yeah. No.

Silly guys - what the heck would I need one of those for?
So now I own FFXII and it can be added to the rather large pile of RPGs that I still need to play through. *sweatdrop* Why does the pile keep growing?! It's supposed to be getting smaller!

Despite them not really needing me, I still wasn't allowed to go home until 5am. I don't do well on this sort of schedule. My head is all hurty and I have a complete lack of motivation to do any of the things that I need to - like making sure I have a clean apartment, plenty of clean clothes, and food to get me through SAS. I'm not exactly afraid of SAS this time around, just kinda tired and not wanting to go through more trauma and drama.
Speaking of which, today's Bishie Hotline makes me laugh in ways that are probably not very nice. Especially the last two frames.
The advil is starting to kick in, I think, so maybe getting up off the couch won't be so difficult now. Time to be productive, maybe. There needs to be Nao-kun while I do so. C'mere iPod.

1. The Wendy's that closes at midnight and is /not/ open at Very Early O'Clock makes me ANGRY. But Wendy's across town that /is/ open at Very Early O'Clock with a cute, perky boy willing to put lemon in my iced tea somewhat appeases me.

2. Ange and 'Zomi are most active between the hours of 1 and 2am, with a brief frenzy of face-pouncing activity at 6am.

3. Lectures are hard to concentrate on after only 3.5 hours of sleep, especially when you already had the lecture a couple of years ago and it's geared toward an undergraduate class.

4. Sugar crashing several times in one day does not a happy Kat make, but candy bars are useful in keeping her from killing the people around her when she does.

5. Presentations suck.

I suppose I should run through my presentation several more times before I have to give it at 1pm. There is /so/ going to be sleep tonight. Tomorrow night I have my 3rd ICU shift this week and it happens to be between midnight and 6am. Sucktasti~c.

;_;
In pulling together kitty pictures for my presentation, I found that I have a lot of video stashed on my computers. Such as from Japan. Such as interviews with people that I knew in Japan. At one point I had meant to make a giant collage of all my Japan pictures, but I never did. I also managed to find all the pictures and videos taken at my going away party nearly 4 years ago and it made me sniffly. Plus snippets from fooling around as Shugosei ("Goooooooooo Planet!"). I worry that the majority of video that I take I end up laughing as if I'm running on very, VERY little sleep. Especially video taken at cons. Especially when there's pie.

"What happened to the pancakes?!"
"Your mom!"
"My mom doesn't do that to pancakes!"

"Do you think it was wise leaving the boys outside by themselves?"
"They're big and strong - they have more blood than us!"

I miss busy rotations. On busy rotations I don't have time to ponder things and thus have less of a tendency to get irritated by the world around me.
But let's talk about things that I like.

In which Kat completes her Slayers collection after 8 years )

Now I just need Slayers Revolution to be released here. Considering the C&D's that Funi has been sending out concerning that show, I'm going to guess that it's not too far off. I think the only anime VHS tapes that I have left are the Saiyuki OVAs (never released here?) and the Saiyuki movie...both of which I have the Japanese releases. Well, and the Sailor Moon movies, but those are going to take some searching. My American VHS tapes...will probably never entirely be replaced. I just don't want to put that much effort into it.
In other news, having the Nao-kun PV collection on in the background soothes my soul until I look up at the screen and see how CHIBI he was in the ~kiss you~ video. I just want to hug him! Turn him into a plushy and SQUEEZE him. He still has some of the same mannerisms. It's hilarious. Gyah, I need a Chibi!Nao-kun. Life would be so much better.
Dude, 'Zomi just did a backflip because I startled her. Note to self - do not startle the Miko when she's pondering Hachiyou.

Once again, the character creation part is my favorite part. And this time they gave us 50 slots to work with! I must say that having Nozomi beat down Masaomi and Kurou is fantastically fun (because let's face it, the Seiryuu Hachiyou need to be put in their place by the Miko sometimes). Though I must say that this makes the whole "armor break" function slightly distracting.
Need to unlock more armor, which requires playing the Tower of Souls thing more. Getting the chests is aggravating, though. I'm glad that I ordered the premium box thingy, as this means I got the ability to make school uniforms. Maybe there's a Nagi and Chihiro in my future...
Right. I was meaning to make D&D characters. Eheh.
One thing I really wish they hadn't done, though, is make it so you can't layer things. The character creator in SC3 allowed you to layer things and create really cool looks. Slightly disappointed with that.

Reading about the Ouran kerfuffle, I suddenly had the realization that Funi is also doing Ghost Hunt. And for one brief moment I wondered if they'd be dubbing the Ghost Hunt opening into English too.
Then I remembered that would be pretty pointless. Eheh.

EDIT: Ooh! I know! They can dub the ending!
...or not.

I had probably 5 or 6 people (I believe [info]double_dear gets the credit for being the first) recommend Scrapped Princess to me over the years. In that "This is a show you will enjoy. Really." sort of way. As is usually the way of these things, I dragged my feet. It was always on my "To Watch" list, but just never made it to the top. Well, I finally watched the first DVD and I'm definitely already hooked. Looking forward to the rest of it!

I apparently have vivid dreams while on SAM.
Last night I was petsitting at this gigantic house with this awesomely big TV and for some reason most of my CO peeps were there ([info]felessan, [info]setra, [info]ladyofthegate, [info]mocny, and [info]xrqz2493 at least...can't remember if there were any more). Also surprising, these people had a gigantic anime collection. So we all hunkered down and watched some anime. I had to go to a meeting of some sort, and so was just leaving for a little bit when the people I was petsitting for came home and kicked us out. I was very sad.
Surviving SAM, more or less. I'll probably only see one appointment today, but it sounds like it's going to be a doozy. Got told I should "seriously consider" doing a neuro residency. There is potluck today. Um...I think that's about it. Our group is having FAR too much fun. You know you have a good group when NOBODY wants the recheck (rechecks are no fun!).
